Rev Dr John Randolph McMurphy

Rev. Dr. John McMurphy, 61, of High Point, NC, died Saturday, January 31, 2015.  John was born March 23, 1953 in Los Angeles, CA a son to James and Jean McMurphy.  He was a long time member of First Wesleyan Church in High Point where he had a ministry with Burmese refugees for the past 10 years.  He was employed by Guilford Technical Community College, Liberty University, and Randolph Community College.  
On August 10, 1973 he married the former Kay Kleman who survives him.  Surviving in addition to his wife are sister, Carol Gallego and husband, Joe, and brother, Joe McMurphy and wife, Patricia. Also surviving are son Jason McMurphy and fiancé Lauren Thompson and his sons, Josiah and John-David McMurphy,  and son Nathan McMurphy and wife, Kimberly McMurphy, along with their children; Daevis, Gideon, Lynnah, and Everly.  
The memorial service will be held at First Wesleyan Church of High Point, NC at 6:30 PM, Thursday, February 5, with Rev. Chris Thore officiating.  Visitation will be held at First Wesleyan Church from 5:00 until service time.  
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Wesleyan Church of High Point, NC at 1701 Westchester Dr.  High Point, NC 27262 and designated for The Burmese Pastor Fund.
