Dear Polly and Family:

HE IS RISEN

How do I know that Christ is risen?
What proof do I have to give?
He touched my life one blessed day
And I began to live.

How do I know he left the tomb
That morning long ago?
I met Him just this morning
And my heart is all aglow!

How do I know that endless life
He gained for me that day?
His life within me is proof enough
Of immortality.

How do I know that Christ still lives
Rich blessings to impart?
He walks with me along the way
And lives within my heart.

-- One of Christ's Disciples

Love,

Elliot

Dear Polly and Family, My thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time in your lives! But i know without a doubt Preacher Stewart had a grand welcome when he arrived in Heaven...He was a great man and will always be remembered for his kindness and love he showed to all people! I loved going to Trinity Baptist Church growing up. I can remember Preacher Stewart always making sure my familiy had a way to Vacation Bible School.... He came and picked us up himself to make sure we could be there.. He also gave me my 1st Bible as a child! A memory I will never forget....I would love to be able to get his autobiography "A Garden of Memories" if there is a way you can help me out on finding where I can get one that would be greatly appreciated....He put alot of love and joy in people's lives that will never be forgotten! What a beautiful soul he was.....With Love, Ina Frazier Gourley.......

Dear Polly, Jeanne, Paul and family:

I was Secretary to Dr. Stewart for the last 10 years of his pastorate at Trinity Baptist Chuch. I can say that I have never served under a more humble Servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. He loved his people and knew everyone in the Trinity community. I never heard him say anything wrong about anyone at Trinity. When Gene and I came to Trinity, I knew we were home. He was truly a great Pastor. Polly, we love you, but most of all Elliot loved you. Jeanne and Paul and grandchildren, you have been blessed by your Father and Grandfather.

May God richly bless and comfrort you all. Our prayers are with you.

Gene and Louise Smith

My love and prayers to Polly Stewart, and to Jeanne and Paul, and all of their family! Dr. Stewart came to Trinity when I was only 4 years old. They lived next door to my family and have always been very special to us! I have many wonderful memories of all of them and especially of Dr Stewart. He always exemplified the love of Christ in his daily walk and was a true mentor to many, living the daily example of what a true man of God is!!! I remember all the hours of service he gave to the people of Trinity Baptist Church. He was a wonderful pastor, humble servant of God, and a friend to all. On behalf of my family and the ones who have gone on to be with the Lord previously from my family, I would like to say Thank you for sharing this wonderful member of your family with us for years, and thank you for all you ALL mean, to ALL of us!!!

Thinking of you at this time and praying God's PEACE be with you, now and forevermore until we all meet in heaven.

Hugs to you all,

Mary Jane Welborn

Visiting Elliot and Polly's house was always a favorite time for me in the '70's and '80's, and oh, the tomato sandwiches. My heartfelt condolences to all of the Stewart family for their loss. Elliot is a tremendous man of God. He was soft-spoken, kind, but powerful as he made his life a living sacrifice for Christ.
