Eloise (Cross) Nye

Mrs. Garnet Eloise Cross Nye, 90, resident of Kernersville, died July 16, 2017 at Memory Care of the Triad.

Mrs. Nye was born November 16, 1926 in Lewis County, W. Va., a daughter to the late Thurman H. and Sophie Irene McKimmie Cross.  She graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1945 and later that year married Paul S. Nye who preceded her in death in 1992.  She had lived in this area since 1984 and worked at K-Mart until her retirement.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by five sisters, Isabelle Cross, Marie Furr, Margie Gamulka, Betty Ault and Maxine Pesta; and four brothers, James, Mack, Howard and Delano Cross.

Surviving is her son, Donald Nye and wife Jane of Kernersville; a brother, Ralph Neale Cross of Clarksburg, W.Va.; a daughter-in-law, Jane Nye of Kernersville; a granddaughter, Katherine Preston of Deltona, FL; two great granddaughters; one great grandson; one great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Floral Garden Park Cemetery with Rev. Jared Stine officiating.  Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association – Western North Carolina Chapter, 4600 Park Rd. #250, Charlotte, NC, 28209.
