Joseph Lee 'Joe' Russell, III

Joseph Lee ‘Joe’ Russell, III, 68, of High Point, passed away February 25, 2017.  He was born December 29, 1948, in Hampton, SC, to the late Inez and Joseph Russell, Jr.  A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Joe served in the Vietnam War earning the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Combat Medal and Rifle Sharpshooter Badge.  He retired from Napa Auto Parts after 45 years of service.  He was a deacon and member of Deep River Church of Christ.  Joe was a devoted husband and dearly loved his children and grandchildren.  He enjoyed gardening and being outdoors with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patsy Holsclaw Russell; six children, Joe Russell (Emily) of Felton, PA, Amber Odom (Brian) of Winston-Salem, Wendy Kendrick (Donald) of Christiansburg, VA, Ginger Atkins (Tom) of Clemmons, Justin Russell (fiancé, Caitlyn Hicks) of High Point, and Jordan Russell of High Point; grandchildren, Joey, Pierce and Kinley Russell of Felton, PA, Macie and Tripp Kendrick of Christiansburg, VA, Mallory Atkins of Clemmons, and Caroline Odom of Winston-Salem; six brothers, George Godley (Carol), James Godley (Doris), Johnson Godley (Susan), Ike Russell, Mark Russell (Cheryl) and David Russell; two sisters, Daphine Hedrick (Ernie) and Anne Fleming; in-laws, Jerry and Jenny Holsclaw; brother-in-law, Ernie Holsclaw; 21 nieces and nephews; and 26 great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Deep River Church of Christ, 2067 Deep River Road, High Point, NC 27265.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at the Church with Evangelists David Galloway and John Foster officiating.  Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
