Joyce (Sapp) Welborn

Joyce Sapp Welborn, 84, passed peacefully from this life to her eternal home on Saturday, November 18, 2017.

Joyce was born January 29, 1933 in Davidson County to the late Carl C. Sapp and Lois A. Dillon Sapp.

She was a faithful member for many years at Greenwood Hills Wesleyan Church in High Point and had worked for Belk Department store.  Joyce held membership in the American Business Women’s Association for 20 years and was a past president.

In addition to her parents Joyce was preceded in death by her first husband of 39 years, Vance Z. Haymore and her second husband of 2 years, Thurman Welborn.

Those who are left to cherish her memories are her daughters; Leigh Ann Hughes and husband, Sherrill, Kathy Ogles and husband Dale, step-daughter; Ann Parrish and husband, Mark all of High Point, step-son; Tom Welborn and wife Wanda of Florida, brother; George Curtis Sapp and wife, Peggy of High Point, grandchildren; Lauren Sheffield and husband, Brad, Bryan Hughes and wife, Amy, Kevin Garner and wife Kindra, James M. Helton and wife, Tabatha, Brandi Lewis and husband, Al, Ashley Hicks and fiancé’ Doug, Brandon Ogles and seventeen great-grandchildren whom she loved very much.

A service to honor Joyce’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Greenwood Hills Wesleyan Church 2937 N. Main Street in High Point with Rev. Matt Mitchell and Rev. Ronnie Kendrick officiating.  Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Winston Salem.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:45 prior to the service.

The family wishes to express gratitude to Pam and Stacy at Pine Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation and also Erica at Thomasville Medical Center for their compassionate care of their mother, Joyce.
