Blessings to all at this unique time . My mom Hazel began listening to Max about the time he began his morning show in 1947.in her 97th year she preceded him in death Sept 2015. I continued listening to the morning show until he signed off early 2010. It was not the same with him off the air. A dear friend was gone. I stopped listening to the morning show
"Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.". 1Thes 5:16-18

I was so sorry to hear of Max’s passing. I delivered his Greensboro newspaper for many years in high point. I loved listening every morning to his radio show. One morning he played a wonderful song by Alan Jackson I think. Since I am the education director for my church I wanted to get a copy of the song, so I left a note the next morning on Max’s paper just to get the name of the song so I could buy a copy. The next morning in his mailbox/papertube I found a cassette copy of the song. I of course wrote a thank you note on his paper. Max was a wonderful guy and he will surely be missed. Rest In Peace Mr. High Point!!

I had the pleasure and honor to work with Max for many years at WMFR/WMAG. I used to joke that the call letters stood for We're Max's Friends' Radio, because his fans- of all ages- were absolutely devoted to him. Max delighted in people and people delighted in Max. He understood, better than most, that every person is an individual, with unique concerns and likes and appreciations. And that's why everyone who listened to Max let like he was speaking to them personally. He was that way in person, too. He was a rare talent in a vanishing age and he spent his days wisely and well. Max will be missed. Max will be remembered.

I grew up in High Point listening to Max as announcer on the AM radio nearly every day, so in that sense he seemed like a friend. We are privileged to be friends with his son David and his wife Liz, and offer our condolences to them as we see this great generation passing on to glory.

So sorry about Max Meeks passing away. Along with everyone else in High Point, I enjoyed his long career at WMFR. I particularly appreciate the time he came to speak with students over at Bishop McGuinness High School in Winston-Salem. May Our Lord Savior Jesus Christ always be with Max Meeks and his family, especially during this time of mourning.
