Reitzel Grayson Hines

Reitzel Grayson Hines, 93, of Archdale entered into his eternal home on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Hospice Home at High Point, surrounded by his family.

Reitzel was born in High Point on August 22, 1924 to the late Maskey Hines and Mary Kanoy Hines.   In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother, Arnold Hines. Reitzel was a World War II veteran serving in the U. S. Navy.  After serving in the military, he worked 38 years with Western Electric/AT&T Telephone Company.

Reitzel was a devout Christian and godly man through and through; he was constantly sharing the word of Christ to everyone around him. He was a longtime member of Green Street Baptist Church, joining the church in 1958.  A true family man, he loved being at family gatherings throughout the years, and had no greater joy than being “Granddaddy” to his four grandchildren.  He was a soft-hearted man, humble and kind to everyone alike, man or creature, and the truest definition of a gentleman.  His friends and family will greatly miss his huge smile and smirk that would brighten up any room, his gentle sense of being, and, of course, seeing him sign “I love you” upon each goodbye.

He and his wife Marjorie “Margie” Hines celebrated 68 wonderful years together building their family and legacy as a couple. Along with his wife, those who are left to cherish his memories are his son; Keith and wife, Michelle of Harrisburg, NC, his daughter, Gail Sullivan and husband, Tim of Jamestown, grandchildren; Lauren Batten and husband, Josh of Winston-Salem, David Sullivan of Charlotte, Emily Mallette and Husband, Phillip of Charlotte, Kevin Hines of Harrisburg, brothers; Ray Hines and wife, Louise of High Point, Wade Hines and Wife, Sylvia of High Point and sister; Dorothy Welch of High Point.

A service to honor Reitzel’s life will be held 2:00 pm on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service at 206 Trindale Road in Archdale with Rev. Frank Hensley officiating.  Burial will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point.

The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 pm at the funeral home before the service.
