HIGH POINT- C. Calvin Cashatt, 93, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017 with his family by his side.

He was born on March 27, 1924 in Davidson County, son of the late Marvin and Lydia Kersey Cashatt.

A resident of this area all of his life, he was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WW II and he retired from Drexel Heritage after 36 years of service. He had been a member of Mitchell’s Grove United Methodist Church for 60 years. At his church, he taught the Upper Room Sunday School class, was a member of the Wednesday morning Bible study group and had served in various other capacities. Calvin loved spending time with his family, gardening, hunting and beagles. He showed his family the true meaning of unconditional love and was loved by all that knew him. He was a very caring person and he never met a stranger. He was a loving father and grandfather and he will be dearly missed.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife and best friend, Evelyn Dunigan Cashatt; his 5 brothers, his 5 sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory; are his children, Julie Ann Cashatt and Charles Lee Cashatt; his grandchildren Sarah Hardin and husband Ricky, Jessica Cashatt, Taylor Albright and husband Zack and Mitchell Smith. He has one surviving sister in law, Sylvia Cashatt.

A service to celebrate Calvin’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 30, at 11 am, at Mitchell’s Grove United Methodist Church, with Reverend Dr. Tim Porter and Reverend Ben Rowe officiating. Interment with military honors accorded by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park. His family will receive friends on Monday, May 29, from 6:30 until 8:00 pm at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
