Mrs. Ellen Jane Nelson

Mrs. Ellen Jane Smith Nelson, age 85, of High Point, died Saturday, March 23rd, at Alamance County Hospice.
Mrs. Nelson was born June 3rd, 1927 in Forsyth County a daughter of the late James and Ellen Sharp Smith.  She had been a resident of this area for the past 56 years and was a member of Deep River Friends Meeting. She was a graduate of both Mars Hill College and Bowman Gray School of Medicine Nursing School. For over thirty years she served as a Nurse and Medical Assistant to Dr. Donald Douglass. On December 25th, 1946 she married Robert Stafford Nelson who died March 5th, 2012. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a grandson, Robert and a great-grandson Grayson.  
Surviving are two daughters, Martha Autry of High Point and Rosemary Earhart husband Robert of Mebane; one son, Steve Nelson of Kernersville; her sister, Mable Dillon of Kernersville; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday at Deep River Friends Meeting House with Pastoral Minister Scott A. Wagoner and the Reverend John Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday at Cumby Family Funeral Service In High Point and other times at the home of her grand-daughter, Elizabeth Simmons at 405 Forestwood Drive in Archdale.
Pallbearers will be, Robert Elliott, Lloyd Graves, Robert Earhart, Lucas Nelson, Ryan Simmons and Al Goodman.
