Guy Elder Royals

Mr. Guy Elder Royals, 93, formerly of Archdale, died March 24, 2017 at Pennybyrn at Maryfield.

Mr. Royals was born May 30, 1923 in Randolph County, a son to the late Robert B. and Sallie Sue Varner Royals.  A resident of this area all his life, he was vice president of Laughlin Hosiery for 45 years and a lifetime member of Trinity Memorial United Methodist Church where he was active with Methodist Men.  He loved gardening, fishing, deer hunting and telling stories about life growing up on the dairy farm.  More than anything, he loved spending time with his family.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred L. Royals; a son, Guy Elder “Eddie” Royals Jr.; four sisters, Mary Belle Wood, Louise Livengood, Ruth McKenzie and Alice Thomas; and two brothers, Van Royals and Fred Royals.

Surviving are his two daughters, Linda White and husband Michael of Archdale and Addie Andrews and husband Terry of High Point; three grandchildren, Allison Albert and husband John, Abby Washington and husband Eric and Amanda Wetzel and husband David; and three great grandchildren, Anna Kate Albert, Audrey Albert and River Washington.

Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Memorial United Methodist Church, 7140 NC Hwy 62, Trinity, NC, 27370, with Rev. Cornelius Brantley Jr. officiating.  Interment will follow at Trinity Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Harriett Lewallen, our family friend who assisted with his care, as well as his fellow church members for all their visits.  Memorials may be directed to Trinity Memorial United Methodist Church.
