Mr. Krieger was such an instrumental part of shaping my life. My dad passed away when I was 15, and it was through the mentoring of Mr. Krieger that has allowed my life to be more fulfilled. When I think of all of the influences he had on me, my mind goes back to the Boy Scouts. I remember when we started Troop 23, he poured himself into all of us boys, sharing his wisdom, demonstrating great patience and love. He played a much larger father figure in my life than he probably ever realized. Not only in the Boy Scouts, but he allowed me to be a part of his hot air balloon crew and I still share those amazing stories. He instilled into me the love of wood working, and turning on the lathe. Mr. Krieger you hold a special place in my life and my only regret is I wish I could have sat around a camp fire and talked with you one more time to share how important you are in my life. Throughout my naval career I modeled my leadership on the example you took the time to teach me. I tried to pass it to my young sailors, I only pray I was successful as you were. So, thank you Scout Master, Leader, Father figure and most of all friend. May God bless your family in this time of great loss.
P.S. You made a beautiful coffin, I only wish you didn't have to use it.
God Bless my friend.

To the Krieger family I am very sorry to hear about Johnny. Although I have not seen him in years, to this day Johnny is revered as one of the most important people to have been in my life. As a Scoutmaster today, I know without the knowledge and support that I received as a scout from my Scoutmaster, (Johnny) I could never be where I am in life today. Johnny will be greatly missed and I hope I can be as great of a Scoutmaster as he was for many scouts to come. -Jeff Brown
