Ms. Judy Arlene Garner Chaney, 62, of Archdale, went to be with her Lord and Savior following a courageous and graceful battle with cancer on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.
Born December 9, 1948, in Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Richard Page Garner and the late Frieda Ruth McCandless Garner. She had worked as a medical records clerk with High Point Regional Hospital for 18 years and was of the Wesleyan faith. She was a big supporter of PVA (Paralyzed Veterans Association). Judy was a loving mom, mamaw, sister and friend and will be truly missed.
Survivors include two daughters, Angela Chaney Jacobs and husband, Chris, of Sophia, and Cathy Chaney Grona and husband, Bobby, of Mt. Airy; three grandsons, Ryan Kumar, Jake Jacobs and Daniel Grona; two sisters, including her twin sister, Trudy Garner, of High Point, and Louise “Cookie” Branning and husband, Mike, of Trinity; and her “sister-in-heart”, Patsy Dougherty, of High Point.
The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 until 8 at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. A private graveside service for the family will be held on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to either Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262, or to the Cancer Center at High Point Regional Hospital, attn.: Development, PO Box HP-5, High Point, NC 27261.
