Mrs. Marian Louise Simmons Lerch, 74, of Trinity, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Born March 14, 1942, in Norfolk, VA, Marian was the daughter of the late Ogan and Rosa Porche Simmons. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy D. Lerch, her brother Robert Simmons, her father and mother-in-law L.G. and Kay Lerch, and her brother-in-law, Ronald Lerch. Marian was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church in Thomasville and loved and cared for her church family. She had worked as a Tupperware consultant for over 40 years. In her spare time she loved growing and canning vegetables, going on trips with her family, and taking care of others.
She is survived by two children, LeRoy W. Lerch and Faith Lerch; three grandchildren, Matthew Hughes, Charlene Lewis and husband, William, and Charles Keeling; one brother, Kenneth Wentz; two sisters-in-law, Janie Simmons and Vicki Fletcher; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Home Going Celebration will be held 1:00 Tuesday at Hilltop Baptist Church, in Thomasville, officiated by Rev. Dr. William Seawell, Jr. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
One of Marian’s sayings was “I live my life in color, not in black and white”, and the family requests that those in attendance wear vibrant color to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Heart Association.
