Weldon Jack Burton

Mr. Weldon Jack Burton, 85, of Archdale, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

Born August 19, 1931, in Thomasville, Jack was the son of the late Weldon Holland and Addie Lee Embry Burton. He was a graduate of Hasty School, Ashmore Business College, and in later years received a Master of Divinity Degree. Jack was a longtime employee of Woodmark Originals and served several years on the High Point Police Reserves. He served his country in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Golf was his passion, but his favorite past time was dining out with family and friends. In addition to his parents, Jack was also preceded in death by his son, Bobby Owens, grandson, Christopher Hanes, and brother, Bill Burton.

On April 21, 1972, Jack married the former Katherine Moser Owens, who survives of the home. Also surviving are daughters, Debbie Burton Hanes (Scott), Brenda Burton Swaney, Sandy Shea (Mike), Sherry Owens Allen, and Melanie Jackson (Jonathan); son, Terry D. Owens; grandchildren, Melissa Hanes, T.J. Mosley (Allie), Ashley O. Guite, Jonathan Owens, Weldon Douglas Hardwick, and Terry G. Owens (Cass); and great grandchildren, Noah Hanes, Naomi Hanes, and Alexis Mosley.

Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, officiated by Rev. Debbie Turner. Entombment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
