Your "old" French teacher is thinking about you all at the passing of your father. I did not know him, but to nurture children like you three, he must have read or written the Good Dad manual. My best to you as you process this change in your lives.

I will miss Uncle Melvin. I remember he and Lucy would come and visit mama when it was hard for her to get out. It was good to see brother and sister laugh about the good times and not so good of times. My beagle,Moe, loved his visits too. He would let Uncle Melvin scratch him the entire visit. We would reminis about all the beagles he kept for hunting. I thought,as a kid,it was so neat to have all of those dogs.He would always pray over mama before he left. I knew God was listening. Much love and deepest sympathies to his lovely wife and precious children.

Dear Lucy, Randy, Dreama, and Scott,
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this time. It is hard losing a spouse or parent. Melvin was a wonderful man, and I will miss him. I have so many wonderful memories of childhood that include Melvin. One of my favorite memories of Melvin was his love of playing horseshoes. I remember many times Grandaddy, Melvin, and Daddy playing against one another. Good times and much laughter during the competition with each other. God bless all of you. Love, Diane Howdeshell.

We were privileged to know Mel several years as our insurance agent then friend and lastly as a golfing buddy. He was a man of great character and conviction but also had a great sense of humor. I know he will be missed by everyone. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Had the honor of knowing Faye and Mel. Played a lot of golf with Mel, besides being an excellent golfer he was a better man. Our deepest sympathy to the family.

Clifton's memory of Melvin goes back to the late 1950s and I remember him and Lucy over the past couple decades. He was a committed servant of the Lord. May the Lord bless Lucy for her years of dedicated loving care of Melvin.
